Buying a catamaran through YD Yachts, then selling with them……during a pandemic!!
Back in 2014, Yiannis and YD Yachts were the brokerage I used to buy my Fountaıne Pajot Bahia 46 catamaran. He helped organıse the yacht survey work I required, then handled all the paperwork involved in ownership change and exporting the yacht out of Greece.
Six and a half years later I decided to use Yiannis to sell my catamaran, but this time we were in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic with lockdowns and travel restrictions.
Not a problem for Yiannis!…….
The prospective buyers were Swiss, and they had a German survey/brokerage company working on their behalf. Due to Covid travel restrictions, we organised a video tour of the boat for them. After that, they made an offer subject to survey, and a deposit from them was held by YD Yachts to secure the boat for them. When travel restrictions were lifted the buyers came to the boat in Turkiye, and the purchase was completed.
Buyers in Switzerland, the boat in Turkiye, a pandemic…..despite all the problems Yiannis steered us efficiently through the process, explaining each step and looking after the interests of me as seller and also the buyers.
YD Yachts has a major global internet presence, and Yiannis is expert at his business and 100% trustworthy. I totally recommend anyone to work him.

J’ai acheté un Dufour Gib’Sea 41 par l’entremise de Yiannis Drimoussis. C’était pendant la période “Covid”. Voyages quasi interdits, formalités administratives extrêmement complexes. Néanmoins, j’ai fait confiance à Yiannis et je n’ai pas eu à le regretter. Le bateau était parfaitement entretenu, comme promis. Certes, certains choses annexes ont dû être améliorées, mais la coque, les voiles et le moteur étaient irréprochables. En outre, Yiannis et le vendeur du bateau ont eu beaucoup de difficultés administratives mais finalement tout a été réglé au moment de notre départ de Grèce. Toutes les promesses ont été tenues. Il nous a même délivré en main propre un EPIRB reprogrammé le jour de notre départ. Yiannis est bien un professionnel de confiance, et il est sympathique ce qui ne gâche rien. Un autre point positif : acheter un bateau en Grèce signifie également un beau voyage retour via les Cyclades, le détroit de Messine, la Sardaigne et la Corse, et de magnifiques souvenirs à la pelle !

I have always loved boating, dreamed about adventures around the world. As I closed in on my 60th birthday I decided to focus on my dream. I looked at sailboats and decide on the brand to fit my needs. Purchasing a Sailboat in the US with the market so hot it was challenging to find the sailboat for me. I consider Yiannis a friend that I trust, now we have lunches, discuss boats, and the beauty of Greece, what a great beginning to my adventure.

Ich habe mein Boot über YD Yachts gekauft und das war gut so. Kompetent, Verlässlich, sachkundig und sehr bemüht. Alls ich den Entschluss gefasst habe ein Boot in Griechenland zu kaufen habe ich stundenlang im Internet gesucht und Sachverständige beauftragt Boote zu begutachten. Bis mich William Walsh(Sachverständiger) auf Yiannis (YD Yachts) aufmerksam gemacht hat, ich habe mich umgehend mit Yiannis in Verbindung gesetzt. Das war das beste was mir passieren konnte wir haben gemeinsam und schnell ein Boot gefunden das meiner Vorstellung entsprach. Yiannis hat mir sehr viel Infomaterial zukommen lassen so das ich mir einen guten gesamt Eindruck vom Boot machen konnte. Umgehend habe ich einen Flug nach Athen gebucht und mich mit Yiannis getroffen. Er hat im Vorfeld schon alles organisiert und ich konnte mir das Boot in aller ruhe und ohne Zeitdruck ansehen. Danach hat er sich auch noch die Zeit genommen und wir konnten ein ausführliches Gespräch über die Vorgeschichte und den Zustand des Bootes führen. Der Sachverständige konnte auch keine gröberen Mängel feststellen.Bei den Verhandlungen hat er mich auch bis zum Abschluss unterstützt und war sehr neutral zu Verkäufer und mir. Mein Fazit ist ich kann YD Yachts nur weiter empfehlen und jedem gratulieren der sich dafür entscheidet ein Boot über diesen Broker zu kaufen. Jeder der ein Boot von ihm kauft wird nicht enttäuscht sein.

Am lucrat cu Yiannis Drimoussis in 2021 pentru achizitia unui velier ex-charter, construit in 2010. Experienta a fost una foarte pozitiva!
Yiannis este un profesionist atent si implicat. Cunoaste toate subtilitatile procesului de achizitie si ne-am simtit pe maini bune.
Intentionat am scris aceasta recenzie abia la final de sezon, in octombrie, pentru a avea obiectivitate: barca s-a dovedit a fi in stare foarte buna, nu ne-a provocat surprize neplacute, ci dimpotriva, ne-a adus multe momente frumoase impreuna! Il recomand cu caldura pe Yiannis pentru orice tranzactie, si noi tot la el vom reveni atunci cand va fi momentul pentru upgrade 🙂
